The 2021 BOYD Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Cruise

Car Show History

Over 20 years ago, the BOYD Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Show began. That inaugural year Dayton Street, from Springfield to Dickson, was loaded with hot rods, bikes and road-rumbling machines. Every vehicle was a labour of love for the owners.  They were excited to show them off and local enthusiasts were excited to see them. Soon the show was so big it took over City Park, attracting ten of thousands of visitors to walk through the wide variety of vehicles on display.

The BOYD Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Show is a gift to the community.

In the past, we have adapted to ensure that we can continue to deliver this gift to everyone from the die-hard motorheads, to the families looking for an afternoon of fun, to the owners excited to display their passion projects – all while raising important funds for local worthwhile charities.

In 2021, as health restrictions on gathering continue, we are unable to present our Father’s Day Car Show or Car Cruise as planned.  So instead we worked with the Kelowna Child Advocacy Centre to raffle off the awesome prize car

BOYD Gives Back
Through the support of our sponsors, volunteers and associates over the last two years, BOYD has contributed over $142,000 to the Child Advocacy Centre. The CAC is a place of help, hope and healing for child survivors of abuse and neglect. Boyd Autobody and Glass’ partnership with the CAC continues despite event restrictions and your support helps change the lives of vulnerable children in our own community.

Gave away a Car!

On Father’s Day, we did a live feed draw for the Customized 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT – modern day “Muscle Car”.

  • Stunning victory red with custom black vinyl accent wrap (Wrap & Decal work provided by Sign Craft) around a black leather interior.
  • Get your pulse racing with the powerful yet efficient direct injected 300+ horsepower V6 breathing through a custom dual exhaust system.
  • Let it roar with an upgraded sound system (from Andres Car Audio).
  • Lowered and then wrapped in new black 20” Foose wheels and Toyo tires (compliments of CIC and OK Tire Kelowna) you’ll love taking corners with a fully independent rear suspension.
  • A custom aftermarket exhaust with a cold air intake (compliments of Budget Brake & Muffler Auto Center Kelowna).
  • High-end performance with space for the whole family.

We sold the last of the tickets 2 hours before the draw.  Local resident Dale Wentworth was the proud winner of this Awesome Ride!

    2018

2018 Annual Boyd Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Show nets $25,000 for the Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna.

KELOWNA, BC – The Father’s Day Car show, an annual event hosted by Boyd Autobody, raised over $25,000 this past June to support the development of the Child Advocacy Centre (CAC) of Kelowna.  The “CAC” will be a child friendly Centre of Excellence that will provide a collaborative response to child abuse in our community. The Centre will improve access, efficiency and effectiveness of care. The Centre will create a safe space for children and their families and help to prevent future child abuse through support and community education.

The cheque for $25, 212.63 was presented to the Kelowna Foundation today, Sept 26 and officially marked the projects first large community donation. This donation is part of a three-year commitment that Boyd Autobody has made to support the Child Advocacy Centre project.

“This is the first time Boyd’s has made a multi- year commitment to a cause,” shared Methal Abougoush, Regional General Manager for Boyd Autobody & Glass Okanagan. “We are so committed to seeing the CAC project come to life, we will do everything in our power to ensure they reach their goal,” continued Methal. “I have kids of my own, as a human being I can’t imagine a better place to give back than in protecting and helping the children of this community.”

    2017

This year took place on Sunday June 18th 2017 at McCurdy Place in Kelowna. There were all the amazing cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles! There was live entertainment by local bands, sponsored by Investors Group – Gibbings and Associates, and much more! This year we had a special guest from Velocity TV’s Graveyard Carz – Mark Worman who brought a 1971 Barracuda!

We got all the numbers back and are proud to say we made our donation to the Kelowna Firefighters Professional Charitable Society (and their Burn Fund) for a whopping $16,308.45!!

We raised $3000 more than last year and we couldn’t have done it without the financial support, physical help, and silent auction donations of each and every person involved.

    2016

Our 2016 Car Show – The Best Ever

This year the show was an even bigger success than ever before! The weather started off a bit rainy, but by 11am we saw floods of people and custom and classic vehicles entering City Park – helping us raise funds for the Angel Awards in support of the Arthritis Society. The event hosted great bands, and amazing cars with some spectacular displays including the Porche Club showing of a range of cars from all different years! The 18th annual car show had many new features, such as a new stage and entertainment rotation including band Rumble 100, and Jada Mckenzie Moore who was the very first Angel Award winner!

In addition, we had a kids fitness and play area put on by the YMCA, and some diverse food options. Just as in years past, the show included a variety of vehicles such as: exotic European cars, imports, luxury vehicles, as well as, a variety of fire trucks and boats.

We’ve crunched the numbers and are extremely proud to announce we were able to donate an impressive $13,243.09 to the Angel Awards in support of the Arthritis Society!

We at Boyd’s would like to give a huge thank you to all of our sponsors, silent auction donators, vendor displays, spectators and especially to all of our volunteers who gave up their weekend to help out a great cause. See you all next year!

17th Annual Father’s Day Car Show Another Great Success

This year the show was a huge success, with great weather, great bands, and amazing cars we were able to beat our own record of participants! This year’s show had many new features, such as a new stage and entertainment rotation including a new band Rumble 100, kids fitness and play area put on by the YMCA, as well as some diverse food options. Just as in years past, the show included a variety of vehicles such as: exotic European cars, imports, luxury vehicles, side by side and ATVS, as well as pedal bike rentals.

In addition, the show also included some of the old favorites such as: dragsters, race cars, big trucks and power boats. Although financials are not yet finalized, we are very confident we reached our goal of raising $10,000 for the YMCA Children’s after school programs. We at Boyd’s would like to give a huge thank you to all of our sponsors, silent auction donators, vendor displays, and especially to all of our volunteers who gave up their weekend to help out a great cause. 2014

Boyd’s 16th Annual Father’s Day Car Show Another Great Success

This year the show was challenged with a less than excitable weather forecast, however somehow just as in years past, the rain eluded the event all day. In spite of the clouds, this year’s turnout was better than ever. This year’s show had many new features, such as a new stage and entertainment rotation, kids fitness and play area, as well as a large diversified waterfront display. Just as in years past, the show included a variety of vehicles such as: exotic European cars, imports, luxury vehicles, side by side and ATVS, as well as pedal bike rentals and numerous food vendors. In addition the show also included some of the old favourites such as dragsters, race cars, big trucks and power boats. Although financials are not yet finalized, we are very confident we reached our goal of raising $10,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation, and are hopeful that we exceeded that by a significant amount. We at Boyd’s would like to give a sincere thank you to all of our sponsors, silent auction donators, vendor displays, and especially to all of our volunteers who gave up their weekend to help out a great cause.
